Niger Delta Defence group lists demands

– Niger Delta Defence demanded President Buhari to visit their five demands or face massive action – One of the demands on the list is to immortalize the Niger Delta activists who died during the struggle for better life for the oil-rich region – The group also blamed President Buhari for one-sided war against corruption Share on Facebook Share on Twitter 1 Niger Delta Niger Delta Defence group has listed fresh demands to the government of President Muhammadu Buhari. In a statement made available to HONEYGURUS the group said the government should as a matter of urgency visit the demands or face massive action which shall cripple the economy and bring it to a standstill. 1. All refineries and petrochemical companies must shut down their activities and leave the region immediately until the Federal Government is ready to turn around the fortunes of our people. No attempt must be made to resume oil exploration in Ogoniland until the UNEP report has been 100% implemented. 4. The Federal government must immortalize Ken Saro Wiwa and other Niger Delta agitators who were gruesomely killed. 5. The Niger Delta region must be allowed to control their resources. Furthermore, the Federal Government should as a matter of urgency visit our demands or face massive action which shall cripple the economy and bring it to a standstill. It further accused the incumbent administration of turning the fight against corruption into the fight against their perceived political opponents from the Niger Delta region. The statement further reads: “The Ogoni cleanup which is still a scam by the Federal government is now been used by some selfish and political gladiators to gain popularity and score cheap political points. Even the five hundred thousand (500,000) empowerment program has now been programmed to favour only a particular political party. Today, instead of the Nigerian government to develop the region, they are now using most of our people to destabilize and set confusion in order to divide us to achieve their selfish aim.” READ ALSO: “Buhari is working to become Nigeria’s last president” The Niger Delta Avengers, who came to the spotlight in February, has in recent months carried out many attacks on oil pipelines and facilities run by international companies, including Shell and U.S. firm Chevron. The attacks are partway responsible for a fall in Nigeria’s oil production of 800,000 barrels per day. Buhari was set to visit the region to launch the cleanup programme of Ogoni land. Meanwhile, he later cancelled his trip, reportedly over the assassination threats. But later it was revealed that the trip was delayed due to the president’s health problems.

MUST READ: Why Olamide May Remain A Local Artiste For For Life

Ybnl Boss and Versatile Music artiste, Olamide aka Badoo is one of the most respected and recognized artiste in the Country… His versatility to rap and sing and also fit into different genres of music from trap to reggae to fuji and many more has distinguished from The crop of talented artistes in Nigeria today.. This brings one to the reason why the artiste has not been duly recognized internationally and outside Nigeria alongside his peers like Davido and Wizkid.. Why is Olamide name lacking in most international awards and the talented artiste not getting deserved attention from the outside World.. Note – Doing indigenous music is not an excuse for lack of intl recognition. 9ice was invited to nelson mandela and MOB0 and Yousuf won a grammy with his local songs.. So doing local or indigenous song is never an excuse.. 1) Quantity Over Quality – Olamide has made quantity is main goal..Flood the scene with songs and songs till you reach a point of equilibrum and then start to decline… Olamide has failed to allow the people thirst for his songs and his releases are not up to expectations too… It gets to a point listeners are no longer gingered to listen to what the artist will say as artist becomes monotous and repititive. The rapper is even gearing up to release a sixth studio album. 2) Branding – Branding is also very much …. The Kind of brand Olamide potrays is of the not too internationally minded artist. He hardly dresses corporate and potray his versatility in his brand.. He has even gone ahead to Brand himself a Local Rapper. This type of image projected is the way he is addressed.. He has even refused to meet up with more influential managers and more serious minded and music experts ….. The lack of Expertise on the side of the management and consisting of influential managers does bear its mark. 3) Appeal – While deviation from indigenous music is not the point. Appeal is very paramount….. Olamide style is not appealing to the outside world.. Sometimes balancing works.. I wonder if Hausas listen to olamide songs ? But i bet more listen to 9ice ? Why A little of more mature songs and english lyrics might do the trick….Do something appealing to every one and yet dont forget the minority. You dont waste international features with Wale on songs like papilo you go make us proud…. Give them what they love.. Trap, pop. Feature more of their artistes and seek for international features…. Olamide is a Legend and will remain one… However , breaking into the international market Like Wizkid is not an easy job…… Olamide has too much talent than to be labelled a local rapper… We want to see him topping the billboard chart and copping his own BET award soon too… Enough of the Headies and NEA awards.

– The debate over Buhari’s health and his trip to the UK is still on – Dr Osahon Enabulele says the president broke his promise by going on medical tourism – The renowned physician said Buhari claimed he would end medical tourism but has continued its practice – He urged the president to lead by example Dr Enabulele accused President Muhammadu Buhari of reneging on a promise to end “medical tourism” by seeking treatment in the United Kingdom. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Buhari broke promise President Buhari is said to be in the UK receiving treatment for an ear infection. According to the leading Nigerian physician, Nigerians spent $1bn (£690,000) on foreign medical trips in 2013, most of which was unnecessary. The UK had more than 3,000 Nigerian-trained doctors, and the US more than 5,000, Dr Enabule said, accusing the government of failing to address the brain drain by improving working conditions and health centres. Nigerian politicians were mostly treated by Nigerian doctors in the UK, he added. READ ALSO: President Buhari departs Nigeria for medical treatment Buhari flew to London on Monday, June 6 to be treated for an ear infection, the BBC reports. It is unclear where the 73-year-old would be treated for what his office described as a “persistent” infection. Dr. Enabulele, vice-president of the Commonwealth Medical Association, said it was a “national shame” that the President went to the UK for treatment when Nigeria had more than 250 ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialists, as well as a National Ear Centre. “Buhari should lead by example by using Nigerian doctors and facilities, and ensure government officials do not go abroad on ‘frivolous’ medical trips,” he told the BBC. Meanwhile, the presidency on Monday, June 6, maintained that President Muhammadu Buhari is not ill. Speaking with newsmen at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja, Femi Adesina, the president’s special adviser on media and publicity said although Buhari has ear infection it has not stopped him from performing his functions as president of the country. He said it was wrong for people to refer to the president’s ear infection as illness, The Nation reports. Adesina said: “The buzz going round town is that the President is “ill”, but “ill” will be a misnomer, it should not be the right word to use. READ ALSO: Time up: Jonathan and Okonjo Iweala must fall sick soon “The President is going for a 10 day rest and during that period he will see specialists who will look at his ear because he has been treating that ear locally for some time. “Nigerian physicians have looked at it and now they have said you are going to UK, now that you will be there let specialists look at the ear. They have treated it locally so it is not a question of whether the president is ill. If he is ill, it presupposes that there are certain things that he cannot do. “Till the very last minute that he is traveling, the president performed the duties and functions of his office as the president.”
